The Ultimate Childs travel tray

 The Ultimate Childs Travel Tray

This tray is designed to keep a child entertained on a long car drive. It has many pockets to hold all kinds of things like books, crayons, chalk, small toys etc. It has a removable metal tray and edge guards, and can be used as a pillow. The tray is great for using with magnets for hours of play. I also included activity sheets that can be used with dry erase markers. The tray could also be painted with chalkboard paint and used as a chalkboard (Although I did not do that on this project.) It has a shoulder strap that doubles as a way to attach the tray around a car seat or chair when your out at a restaurant, so it will keep items from falling onto the floor. I also designed this to be washable.  Please note that the metal tray and the edge guard cannot go into the dryer.  I would recommend letting all pieces line dry.

This was such a fun project to create. I made this for my nephew Connor, A really smart little 3 year old who enjoys reading books. He loves Disney Cars, so last year I made him Disney Cars themed sheets and comforter for his toddler bed. After I completed this project I thought of a couple other ideas that could easily be added like a magnetized cup holder, and maybe attaching the activity sheets. Due to the fact I was giving this as a Christmas gift I didn't have time to create the activity sheets I wanted to make several scenes like one for a space & planets, farm, railroad track, busy town, and a nautical design. I ended up using activity placemats that were already laminated that I found at Kmart. But I plan to create customized ones using either my scrapbooking supplies or Heritage makers. I am currently working on creating a step by step DIY post for how to make this.
I hope you enjoy this post.  Please leave your suggestions or comments below

Display of some of the books & items included with this gift.

Everything fully opened and out for display. Hard to see the crayons and dry erase markers standing in the edge guard.  because this view would be facing the child using the tray.

Travel tray open with edge guard in place. Strap can be used to secure around a car seat or chair to keep everything from falling onto the floor.

r
Closing everything up is easy, just place books and other items to be secured in the pockets

Folding the edge guard flat and the side pockets into the tray.

Everything folded into the tray.
Closed with magnetic and Velcro closures. Fully loaded and ready for taking it with you on the go.

Cute Gardening Project

Getting ready for spring to come. My sister in law loves to garden do I made these for her to use this spring. She always has a great garden. I'm planning on starting my own this year since we have a huge yard in our new house.  Although I could use some comments and suggestions about how to start one. My yard had large area but also a lot of the area where I want to plant is shaded. So I was thinking maybe I could build my own raised plant beds but now I think I may need to put them on wheels.  What do you think of these for your garden makers? They were easy to make and only cost a few dollars in materials.

Welcome and Thank You for visiting. I wonder....What will your legacy be? What is your story?

As a society we seem to have lost the art of storytelling. With our lives incredibly busy from school to work, children and family when do we sit down and tell the story of how we came to where we live, or why we chose our chosen career. There are so many stories to be told.

The importance of preservation is a high priority for me. I realized as an adult I didn't know very much about my own family, and due to the loss of my grandparents, I could never really learn all those how and why questions I wanted to know. I am fascinated with genealogy, but looking up the people is only half of the story.

The life span of a memory will never make it past the first generation. You are much more important than that. Your children, grand children, great grand children, and YOU have the ability to tell your own story and make a memory last through generations.

I love this quote by Sharon Murdoch "Each one of us is a library, and we are each a book in the library of life. Don't leave this world or allow your parents, grandchildren or loved ones leave without adding to your library."

I am also very big on Value. I have personally found HUGE value in everything Heritage Makers has to offer. First and foremost is the photo preservation, Second the endless ways to create, not to mention how much fun it is to have a creative outlet, and Third is absolute wonderful time I have helping and working with other people as passionate as I am.

I am very excited to share with you Heritage Makers. Where you can learn how you can create your own home decor, greeting cards, scrapbooks, storybooks, business tools, and so much more. With Heritage Makers you are in charge of how your story is told. It is SO much FUN! And easy too. Whether you are a creative genius or artistically challenged you will find something you love. You are in control to make it happen. All the tools you need can be found at http://www.heritagemakers.com/wandasmith

Watch your dreams unfold, as you see the joy in others as they read about your story. It truly is Priceless.

I would love to help you tell your story. No matter what your budget might be, we can help. Your story is unique and best told by YOU.

I welcome your questions, and the opportunity to help you get started!

Acrylic Scrapbook Page

I had so much fun making this page for my Mom. Ginger is her loving little doggie, that as you can see thinks she is a baby. LOL
The actual photo is mounted on the back. and all the other embelishments are on the front of the page. I drilled two small holes in the top and used a small tubing I got from Tap plastics. It works so well for hanging cause you simply tie a knot in the end.
As I am writting this post I thought it would be so easy to add a little color to the tubing, now I have to go and try that out. when I find the other acrylic pages I made into wall hangings I will update the blog with them. I did two others ones. One was on our first trip to Washington when all the kids had a blast at Camalot Park. and the other has pictures of each of my children with thier favorite Disney chacter. Now I have more work to do in going thru the remander of the boxes in the garage to find all these missing scrapbook projects not to mention I have to also find my albums.
Right now I am so thrilled because a couple of weeks ago Michael and I pulled out a bunch of my craft boxes and started my Scrapbook Room. I got a wonderful Christmas gift from my Mother in Law Sharon. It was a three foot Street style sign in white and green that says Scrapbook Lane. It is scary to thing about how much money was spent on all the stuff. The paper, kits, stamps, pens, albums, stickers, tools, supply holders, carriers, and travel bags, etc. But I have to say that I am totally loving the fact that I will have a place all my own just for my stuff. It really will be my Scrapbook Studio. I have to still bring in all my photography stuff now too. I am so excited to get creative and have fun with it. But alas I have to finish cleaning out all the stuff from the garage first. Soon Very soon I will get a chance to live the dream of having the freedom to just create.

Initial Blog entry

I have been wanting to start a blog so forgive me as this is my maiden voyage of an attempt. I am sure I will get better at it as we go along. This is my family in our most recent family photo, I wish Jacque was here for this. We miss her very much. Jerra was visiting during the Thanksgiving weekend when we took this photo.

Well 2009 was a very trying year on many levels. So thank goodness it is finally overwith. On to bigger and better things for 2010. We are absolutely loving that fact that we are living in Washington now. This undoubtably is the best thing we could have done for our family. This coming spring it will be four years since we made the decision to move to Washington. We Spent every week of vacation we had to come to Washington to scout out home and employment options for the last three years.

So now that we are in a new year and on a fresh start we couldn't be happier. Jordan and Jocie love our neighborhood and thier elementrary school. It was so nice when we moved in it was like Desparate Housewives on Wisteria lane. We met almost all the neighbors on our little street in a few minutes. lol Everyone is so friendly here. Everything is very family oriented, alot of community events. The kids intereact with several children in church youth groups three times a week. They have fun, play games, get messy and learn a bible lesson. The youth group pastor and his family are so amazing. I am actually sad to know that they will be leaving sometime this year as He has an amazing job offer in New Zealand. His wife is an amazing photographer, and they have four beautiful children.

I am so happy I came into contact with some truely awesome and wonderful people. I am beginning my own business for myself but not by myself. It truely is an amazing feeling of satisfaction whenever I get an opportunity to help a family and really make a difference in thier lives. Teaching them some simple concepts that the banking & insurance industries don't want middle america to know. We do for middle america, what Merryl Lynch does for the wealthy. So if you have about 30 minutes I would love to show you what I am doing. I am confident I can find ways of saving you money, and a better way to get your money working for you. And if you know someone that could use my help I welcome you to pass on my name and numbers.

Wow this is going pretty smooth I guess I found I have a lot to say... LOL Well for future plans I would love to open my own scrapbook store someday as there are not that many around here compared to California where I could find one to four with in about 30 miles.
